Your dental checkup at Northwest Center for Dentistry allows our team to clean your teeth and examine the health of your mouth to help you maintain long-term, good oral hygiene. This includes a thorough examination of your teeth to look for signs of tooth decay or weakened tooth enamel.

If you have inconsistencies in your daily oral hygiene routine or if you consume an excessive amount of acidic foods and beverages, it could weaken your tooth enamel. This will leave your teeth increasingly vulnerable to tooth decay.

Fortunately, increased fluoride exposure helps restore the mineral structures of your tooth enamel in a process known as remineralization. If you show signs of weakened tooth enamel, Dr. Cameron Clark might recommend adding a fluoride treatment.

Dr. Cameron Clark can administer the treatment at the end of your regular dental checkup. To do this, he will pour a small amount of concentrated fluoride gel into a tray that is held in your mouth for a few minutes. It’s a good idea to avoid eating or drinking for up to an hour afterward to allow the fluoride to deeply penetrate the microscopic areas of your tooth enamel.

Dr. Cameron Clark might also prescribe fluoride supplements or advise you to use a toothpaste with added fluoride to help maintain the strength of your tooth enamel on an everyday basis.

If you live in the Kalispell, Montana, area and you are concerned about the strength of your tooth enamel, you should call (406) 752-4530 to schedule a checkup and fluoride treatment with Dr. Cameron Clark.
